Such a comforting and affirming read! Thanks for validating the slow creative path and backing it up with scientific study too 🤌🏾 Love to see it!

Yes. Insanely accurate. Sis articulated it so perfectly! I am definitely a slow creative. I would also call myself an intentional creative. I don’t necessarily think all slow creatives are inherently intentional. Thoughts?

Writers can definitely be slow and unintentional, for sure. But more often than not, slow writers are really considering the art, the arc of the story, and how to reach readers in the most effective way. While this is good, it’s easy to get lost in the weeds of “what ifs” instead of getting words on the page. I think this is why writing partners are so helpful. You have someone to hold you accountable to completing your work. So whether you’re slow or fast with writing, a writing partner can help you keep pace with your project and overall story goal.

Makes sense. So really, it is inherently intentional in that one would really only apply the term to intentional, thoughtful writers. Love the term. Love the essay.

Great piece. I would say creating slowly is to create humanly. So important to create away from the iron fist of capitalism. I also love ‘morning pages’ stream of consciousness writing, no pressure or structure, which is simply a non-demanding exercise to keep the wheels of creativity turning

Yes! We often forget what the baseline of being human is because we’re so used to moving fast. That’s why slow creations are the most potent ❤️‍🔥

Thank you for the validation. I'm a slow 🐌 creative and have always envied people who would come up with brilliant ideas at the drop of a hat and execute without second-guessing! I guess I am grateful for clients who trust my vision that my end result would be great.
